Glynda Newton retires from the JSO
Today was my last service as a full time violinist of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra after 39 years. I am grateful for my years of service and honored to have worked so closely with so many of my colleagues over the years- some remaining and some already retired. The 9 musicians retiring today, including myself, have successfully shaped the orchestra, and the job of making music has forever shaped who we have become. Making music is an honor and a privilege. Sitting in the orchestra and hearing the music of the composers come to life is incredibly thrilling and awe inspiring. Few will ever know this feeling.
I move on to my next career with the same enthusiasm and dedication that I had as a symphonic violinist. I am excited to shape, and be shaped by my next endeavors, expanding the business of Newton Musical.
